On September 13, 2017, Yahoo! Entertainment published an article proclaiming “Celebs stop being polite, start getting real with fans on Twitter.” “Gray’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo, actor Don Cheadle, and singer Cher were quoted calling out their Trump supporting fans on Twitter, admonishing them for calling themselves fans, and telling them to boycott their shows and films. Also quoted in the article was “House, M.D.” actress Olivia Wilde, who proclaimed:
On May 26, 2019, Fox News reported about the new “Aladdin” remake’s success at the box office, and the financial failure of a couple of smaller releases- “‘Aladdin’ soars at the box office, ‘Booksmart’ flops for Memorial Day weekend.” So? Well, the film “Booksmart,” a critically acclaimed story about two high school seniors who decide to go to a blow-out party and finally break some rules (how “original”) was directed by none other than Olivia “PLEASE FUCKING DO” Wilde. Apparently the director realized audiences were flocking to a blue Will Smith over her small film and tweeted:
I didn’t know Wilde directed the film, (I didn’t even know it existed), but she got exactly what she wanted- no Trumpy Troll support. Why is she pleading with anyone about anything? She got what she wanted! Oh, and good luck trying to pin your film’s failure on Trump and all us racist, homophobic, misogynistic, NeoNazied, uneducated, flyover-country dwelling, dumb, backward, etc., yawn, etc., yawn, etc…- Charles T. Tatum, Jr.
